What's in each pack

The Minimum Standard pack is not a cut-down version. It includes every written procedure, policy and risk assessment a council needs to grant your licence, all the editable forms, and a checklist telling you exactly what to send and what to add yourself. New businesses are often a 1 to 3 star rating with a 1 to 2 year licence, so you pay the council fee and have an inspection more often.

The Higher Standard pack adds the documents that evidence the higher standards an inspector assesses. Where the higher rating is awarded, it brings a 2 to 3 year licence: one council fee and one inspection instead of paying every year. If your council charges around £300 a year, a three-year licence can save roughly two annual renewals, so the extra here pays for itself many times over.

We say "where awarded" deliberately. The rating also depends on your premises and the inspector's assessment, so we never promise a specific star result. The Minimum pack already contains everything required to be licensed; the Higher pack adds the evidence for a longer licence, not anything you legally need.
